The alternator is now fitted and working... that was a nightmare, and when finished I was covered in muck from working under the engine bay... at least it's done now though.

I then had to fix the fridge.  This broke due to over voltage from the alternator so I ordered a new control unit.  Well...... apparently not, after taking it apart and the new control unit not working... I realised the fridge was turned off which is why it wasn't working, and it's a 12/24V fridge so over voltage wouldn't have mattered.  I felt rather stupid but at least it's working....  in my defence the thermostat switch wasn't able to be easily seen; unfortunately after ten years I forgot!

I did a test with the scouring pad attachment for a sander and it was definitely worth buying.  If you push too hard the paint can come off but cleans it up nicely.  That will save hours of scrubbing!  That's about it.... I'd like to do the bodywork but have to wait for some better weather.  Back to working on the house for now!

The work has started, and it already took me too long for a simple task!  I had discharge from the main battery and dash lights were lightly showing with the ignition off.  I spent far too long disconnecting every plug, batteries, solar source, relays etc. etc. eventually I traced it to a broken alternator rectifier.  Very annoying!  A new alternator is now on the list to be ordered!

Clean up has started inside, and the water tank has been removed ready for an eventual three point belt - that at least was surprisingly straight forward to remove.  I did a lot of wiring work in the past and put a separate switch panel on for added accessories so each had it's own fuse.  Unfortunately after ten years I couldn't remember what switch powered what so this time I have now labeled them!  I've seen a combined DCDC charger with combined MPPT device which I'm tempted to instal this time around, but everything works at the moment so not sure if that's worth it yet.

The outside has only had a first wash and the roof needs a good scrubbing.  I used a scouring pad and with a lot of work it should clean ok.  I found some scouring pad attachments to go on an orbital sander so I've ordered them; fingers crossed this will make that task a lot quicker to do!

That's about it for the moment, I have a full house renovation and a little guy to look after but will hopefully grab some time here or there to get this on the road again.

Hello Daniel,
great that it's continuing. We're excited.

Es ist keine eBay APP ID und/oder Cert ID definiert in der Kunena-Konfiguration.Well..... I wrote a long story and it deleted... so lets try again!

As per..   hobby600.de/forum/basisfahrzeug/23368-st...-rust?start=30#29510 . I did a lot of work to my Hobby.  Enough to be able to be used once, then 'temporarily' put into storage and nearly ten years later she's back home.  Life happens and... well that's a lot of time!  Thankfully after cleaning the fuel system and un-sticking a clutch she runs sweetly - amazing after all that time!

The cab is mostly solid apart from some welding required around the arches, which I suppose isn't bad after ten years....  I previously coated the cab in Upol Raptor (truck bed liner) which is tough and hardwearing and easy to use.  It won't win any beauty awards, but strong, presentable and no worries with branches down country lanes.  The body will be finished this time, and will likely vinyl wrap with this:  .  This isn't as hardwearing as the raptor, but will give a nice consistent finish without polishing required!

Now I have a little helper, I need to fit a three point belt for a car seat; I'll likely adapt a minibus seat.  This means I'll have to use a smaller water tank, put the frame around the original or relocate to under the vehicle.  I'll also need to figure out the best way for a bed for him as well.

I'm looking forward to getting on the road again.  My main concern is lack of a shower as we like to run, and a wash down is always required afterwards!  I guess I'll have to figure this out as we go.....

Daniel
