Well...... I thought I'd start on dealing with the rust in the cab.... I think I may have got carried away! I'm hoping at some point I'll be able to show the front with a cab on again.... with a wish and a prayer! :)

Hallo Daniel,
Wo bekommst Du die Ersatzbleche her?
Mit freundlichen Grüßen und Glückauf
Wilfried

Hallo Daniel,

I bought a bare cab and was told it was rust free... unfortunately not but still a lot better than the existing one. I've stripped on half of it, and will fix the panels individually before putting them on the hobby. I'm making sure all trace of rust is gone, and will use copious amounts of waxoyl when it's back together...... and then some more waxoyl... and then some more.... I'm going to make sure it doesn't rust again!

In hindsight it would have been a lot easier to fix the existing panels bit by bit.... too late now but hopefully it'll get there. I'm back at work now but have the weekend off so will continue working then....

It's going to be a lot of work to make sure the panels are all straight and aren't all at strange angles - which is the main reason it would have been easier to patch up a bit at a time. One slight problem is the wings and inner wings are mk2 - though so are the doors I've bought. Just means I have to buy a few extra parts. I prefer the mk1 front but if there's no rust.... and it's not at strange angles I'll be happy! :)

Well.... Somehow the bodywork is nearly rebuilt! In hindsight it would have been much simpler to have patched what was there, but hey ho! Part of me wondered if I would get it back together but it's actually looking like a vehicle again - which makes me very very happy! :) The welding (hopefully!) is all done so I'll be starting on the paintwork, or rather lots of prep for paintwork soon! The main job I think will be a nightmare is the wipers though for two main reasons, when I took them out the spindles were all rusted etc. so that's going to be a pain to make new bits so it can join to the scuttle panel and still work. Second problem is I fitted a new scuttle panel - the problem is they're not pre drilled. The old scuttle was very rusted, i can use it for the distance between the wipers but both sides of the scuttle were disintegrated. I need a measurement from the edge of the scuttle panel to one of the holes. Is someone able to measure the distance for me please? I'm happy it's getting there, the wife has booked some leave for the end of September so one way or another, it needs to be working ish for then.

Hallo Daniel,

Hello Daniel,

do you need the red marked distance in the following picture ?

You have a normal left hand drive like ours too right ?
If so, this could be a possibility for you.

Yes, thank you that's right. It's a left hand drive and that's the distance I need. :)

It's little things like this that cause problems, making sure I drill the holes accurately so the wipers fit. Looking at the link to the footrest post, whilst doing all the body work I also modified the wheel arch. I have cut a section out of it so there will be room to put my foot. Hopefully the wheel will still fit under it.... I'll take some pictures when I can which will explain better what i've done.

Well.... it looks like the wiper system won't be too much of a nightmare after all... though it's going to cost me!

www.axel-augustin.de/shop2/Fiat-Professi...out-Motor::4534.html

I'm now about 200 euros worse of after buying this, wiper arms, wipers and a few other bits. At least I won't need to modify they existing rusted system - thankfully! I've just ordered it so hopefully it'll come this week. It should now be an easy fit which is needed as I need to have the motorhome ready by the end of September so we can go away in it. We're planning a trip around Scotland which should be fun. I just need the measurement as Marius drew above then I can get drilling. Must say I'm happy to see it all coming together! :)

Hi,

If possible, can someone tell me the measurement / distance as marked on the photo. I need to drill holes on the new scuttle panel and as a new wiper system has just arrived, I was hoping to get it done today?

Thanks,

Daniel
